People talk about what they would change if they could do life over. I suppose reflecting is a way of learning to do life better today. . . to not care what mud does to clothing, to reconcile more quickly, to sit/listen to a heart when the brain tells us to keep doing. I am who I am because of God's tender mercies, and I want to share a bit of life, happy and not. So if you're up for it, join me!

friend
oh the depths of longing for a friend... today I met with two beautiful women who both long for a friend. these are not outwardly desperate or needy women. they are in fact seemingly very put together people who appear to not have needs. both share a longing - for a friend. not someone who will disappear when position is no longer helpful to the other's situation. not someone who will high-tail it at the first hint of messy life or miscommunication. the longing is for a person who will stay true no matter what. the kind of friendship that allows for life to ebb and flow in seasons, how and how often they get together altering as each needs. the kind of friendship where you know you're on their heart and they think of you. the kind where you can pick right back up where you left off. the kind where you can be you, say what you're actually feeling, have and share your needs, and not be judged. the kind where you let God be God for each other, not confusing yourself or your friend with God. the kind where you breathe deeply, knowing that no matter what... you are lovable and you are loved. When was the last time you asked, "May I be your friend?"
