We weren't able to walk up to our new neighbor as of this spring and tell her that I was going to find melanoma on me, have many meetings with medical professionals, and that we were really going to need her to fall in love with our children so that when we asked her to come over at 7:30 in the morning October 14th she would be excited about it. It's possible she would have then moved out.
Never will I understand the workings of our God and how He cares for us when we don't have a clue what the next step is. It's not fate. It's a loving God who cares about us in that next step before we even entertain the thought of having to take it. Our dear neighbor Miss Mary passed away at a beautiful old age, and what good can come from that? Even her dog Alfie left. But Miss Mary's great niece Miss Maria moved in, and she did fall in love with our kids, and she is so happy to help us out and be with us at crazy hours of the day.
So, tomorrow morning at 7:30 in the morning, Andrew and I will be driving to a new office to meet a second medical oncologist and hopefully feel great about him walking us through this next year of medicine. We didn't feel a perfect fit with the first, but she's not totally out of the question. So, if you read this soon, or not, please pray for discernment. Once upon a time we lost Mary and Alfie, and today we have Maria. Maybe this will be just as perfect.
